Hi all, I'd be very grateful for a little help.... I use rdp to connect to PCs we have a remote locations and I have found that certain properties in the Display settings are greyed out, such as desktop background and resolution. Is there a way of enable these settings so they're configurable when RDP'd in? Many thanks Craig

Thanks for your response kjv.

Not much help I'm afraid, it doesn't state anywhere that the desktop wallpaper is available when RDP'd in. However, I did notice on the options of RDP, under performance, that you can allow the 'desktop background'.... but it doesn't.

Starting to think its a option not available to Remote Desktop... bugger!

Oh, I thought you were talking about changing all the various display settings. I believe that with most, if not all, remote applications, viewing the remote desktop's background wallpaper is disabled by default. Also, it is HIGHLY recommended you keep it that way, IF you can change the setting. The reason why is that's a not a good use of your limited resources when connecting remotely. It's best to tone the graphics/colors/etc down as low as you can stand, so as to save resources for the more important things... just in case there are any problems with the connection, for instance.

thanks, makes sense if you have a flash wallpaper, however I just need a little ident.

Anyhow, fixed....

Within Group Policy (type 'mmc' in RUN, FILE>add/remove Snap>add>group policy object editor>Finish>Ok>) and navigate to Terminal services (Comp Conf>Admin temp>Windows Compo>Term Serv... and there you will find 'Enforce Removal of Remote Desktop Wallpaper. Open it up and select 'Disable', viola.... allows you change the wallpaper on the remote PC to view on the client.

Regards
Craig

Glad to hear. Thanks for the follow-up when you found the solution.
