What is the best free software to use for remote desktop. Desktop must be visible to both users. Having problems with VNC and dont like Dameware. Has to be a product that is safe to use in a large corporate.

what about the build in remote desktop application?

then there is CrossLoop or NetViewer, but both connect to a server of their respective firms...

what is the problem with VNC? ever taken a look at UltraVNC?

why not something like logmein?

no firewall ports need opening, unlike VNC or RDP.

Also, join.me for quick dirty remote access with both parties present, and its also good for conferencing.

Teamviewer as well for the IP style remote software.

the only beef I have with Teamviewer is the app listens on port 80 - which is annoying for techs like me that sometimes need to run a local web server for various reasons!

Remote Desktop does not allow the other user to see their desktop

Teamviewr works for me to at least start my applications so that I can use RDP to use them.Havent had any issues with Teamviewer yet. VNC gave me a virus that cuased me a lot of issues.

ken07734,

>> VNC gave me a virus that cuased me a lot of issues.?

what, which of the MANY incarnations of VNC for Windows did you use?

in all my time I've used UltraVNC or RealVNC, never came across an issue where I had gotten malware... and the last time a virus hit any of my machines has got to be at least 5 or more years in the past now...

hpsait,

yeah, totally forgot that one... ;-)

hairlessupportmonkey,

>> the only beef I have with Teamviewer is the app listens on port 80

then you will have a 'cow' with CrossLoop, as it too uses Port 80...
