I am a program developer but am also a defacto IT manager.
I have just acquired an XP computer. We run a small Novell 6 network and most workstations are running NT4. Because the workstations are scattered, I looked at using remote desktop to connect to a PC when there was a problem. I installed remote desktop on the NT boxes and I can remote desktop from them into my XP box. However, I need it to work the other way - from the XP box to the NT box.
I have searched this site, but have not found instructions on what to do to make the NT boxes accessible via remote desktop.

I would be grateful for some help.

The "other way" is only possible on an XP Professional box. No other client version of Windows supports the remote Host role, although all versions of Windows support client mode.

You might investigate some of the VNC freeware alternatives. I like TightVNC, but there are several to choose from.

Thanks bcastner,

I am running XP Professional. I have looked at TightVNC, but I would like to compare it to remote desktop.
Are you saying that I can only connect from NT4 to XP and not XP to NT4?

That is exactly what I am saying; only XP Professional allows a "Host" role as server for connection by other Windows remote clients.
