hello

I have two different problems with arcserve2000 SP4 that I can't solve and I would be very glad if someone could help me.

1. I would like to manage my arcserve-server over a remote console. I can start the "ARCserve Server Admin", but I can't start the "ARCserve Manager", I alway get this error message: "Server svr-001 failed to authenticate the user ad (EC=1722)", but the user ad has enough permisson. any ideas??

2. every day I have this error mesage in the event log:
"
Source........................ System State
Target........................ I-GFS_BG-MON- 9/16/02, ID 4FEC, Sequence #1
Session....................... 20
Start Time.................... 9/17/02 11:50 PM
AW0004 Failed to open file <C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat>. RC=32, The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
"
how can I exclude a file, that's in the System State??

thank you very much for any help or ideas!!!

This is just a long-shot, but try logging into your remote session as the user which installed the AS2000 product (usually Administrator).

I tend not to use remote console to manage my AS2000 as I have found it can cause problems. If you feel you do, may I suggest that the AS Manager is closed on the actual server. i.e. you only have 1 AS Manager session open at a time.

Hope that helps...Andy.

Verify that the user 'ad' has Domain Admin permissions, and also Act as Part of the O/S rights.

I would not recommend installing ARCserve using the Administrator account. It should have its own account with the appropriate rights and permissions. Log on as that account, and then install the product.

Guys,

Dont break your heads over a simple issue...

Just check if the RPC service and its "dependent\depend on"
services are running on the remote ARCserve which you are trying to add to the manager...

Verify if you have admin$ and ARcserve$ with appropriate permissions to the ARcserve system account...

tschons,

sorry i missed your second question..

If you are doing a remote backup of the machine using client agent and you get this error....

On the source tab, rightclick on the remote machine under the client agents module, select filter...
setup an exclusion filter for filer patterns and put in
qmgr*.dat...

This should exclude the file from being backed up...

Cheers

hello together

thank you very very much for all the help I got!!!

I could solve my first problem the way speshalyst told me!!

But the second problem is still the same. I can't loggon. I checked the services and they are running. I also restartet them, but it doesn't help. I also tryed to loggon as the user which installed the AS2000.

Has somebody still any ideas??

Thank's a lot!!

To clarify...you log on in a Terminal Server session, and when you start AS Manager, you get the authenticate error? If so, does it happen immediately, or when selecting one of the Managers (Job, Device, DB, etc.) in AS Manager?

Also, please verify that Domain\AD has been added to the Local Administrators group on any servers that AS manages.

Are we talking a remote ARCserve manager or a NT\2000 terminal session?? So it Shall be Written!

thank's for the help. sorry if my question is not clear, the problem is, that my englisch is not so good-:-( I will try again.

I have an Win2000 Server where I installed my ARCserve2000 & SP4. Now I would like to manage the server from my notebook XP & SP1. I installed on my notebook also the ARCserve components, but not the server.
Now I can start on my Notebook the ARCserve Server Admin and can see the "summary", "Job Engine" and so on. That works fine! Just switch on the Drop-down menu, from my Notebook to the Server where ARCserve2000 is installed.

Now I also would like to start the ARCserve Manager on my Notebook, but that doesn't work. As soon as I change in the Drop-down menu from my Notebook to the Server I get this message:"Server svr-001 failed to authenticate the user ad (EC=1722)".
the user ad has enough permission. His is local Administrator on the Server, Domain Admin, Backup Operator.

I hope, that you understand my problem now.

Cheers

Are you using Domain\Username for the login name? Is your laptop a member in the domain? Are you logging on your laptop in the domain, and not using the local machine account.

yes, I'm using Domain\Username for the login name. I'm logging in the domain and not using the local account.

idea's??

Try adding the user as a local admin on your win2000 server.
