Hello,

I have successfully enabled remote call forwarding on our Magix 4.0 v7.0, but have not been able to get the simultaneous internal alert to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michael Anzalone

Do you have a PRI or POTS lines? I'm not sure it is supported with POTS lines. If it is, you would need to allow trunk to trunk transfer, but again I don't think it is supported with POTS lines.

Yes, we have a PRI (it's assigned to the 890 pool).
I have enabled RCF with simultaneous internal alert and trunk to trunk transfer, but the phone does not ring internally - it only forwards to the outside number.

I've noticed that it doesn't matter whether I've put an extension in RCF or RCF with Simultaneous Alert, Inspect will reveal the extension in both categories. A little bug, I suppose.

Anyway, the point is that you want to carefully remove the extension from either or both categories (OK to use Inspect for that part), then just as carefully re-enter the extension in RCF with Simultaneous Alert only. In other words, the failure may be because the extension is still a member of RCF only, despite what Inspect would otherwise lead you to believe.

See if that does it. I've been bitten by this nebulous RCF versus RCF Simultaneous categories myself. Fortunately, it's one of maybe two or three teeny little software glitches on the Legend/Magix line.

Thank you for the responses.

I did notice that there was somthing fishy about the way Magix keeps track of the RCF & RCF with Simultaneous Alert. In fact, the Inspect key does not seem to work at all on the Simultaneous Alert settings screen, only the RCF settings screen. I wonder if this fact is related to the problem I am having?

I also noticed that if I add an extension to the Simultaneous Alert settings screen, it will show up when I press Inspect on the RCF settings screen, even if it wasn't entered on that screen.

I'll check the settings again on Monday; in the meantime, are there any other suggestions?

Thanks again,
Michael

Hi Tim,

Apparently, the missing link in my case was that I needed to give the extension the ability to directly dial the 890 pool.

Based upon information that you posted back on 6 Dec 06, I went to System Programming, Start, Extensions, Dial OutCd. Then I entered the extension in question, and pool code 890 when prompted, and Bob’s your Uncle!

Thanks much for your assistance – RCF with SIA will definitely be put to good use!

Best,
Michael Anzalone

I wish Avaya's documentation had stated that piece about the Dial OutCd, but I had to figure it out the hard way. That's why it makes sense for techs to post information like that for all to see. Glad I was able to help...both yesterday and back in 2006.
