Hello,

I've been asked if it is possible answer a 7965 from a headset (wireless) while you're a few feet away from your desk. The only way I've been able to this is with a handset lifter connected to the base of the wireless headset. Just wondering if there is another way without the lifter? Thanks

What type of Wireles Headsets are being used?

We use Jabra 9330 and 9350 wireless headsets at our office. They don't require a headset lifter. Instead, they use an EHS (Electronic Hook Switch) cable that connects from the base station to the Aux port on the phone.

We use the same headset but can you answer/hang up the phone without touching it?

Okay, so I have a 9350... what type of cable do I need? Currently on the 9350 I'm plugged into the port that looks like a phone and on the 7965 I'm plugged into the headset port with a 4 pin cable. Thanks

You need the Jabra 14201-16 cable. In addition to the cable currently in place, this will attach from the Aux port on the 9350 base to the Aux port on the 7965.

You will also need to provision your phones to support the eHook capability.

For CM, the cable comes with instructions for the location of this setting in the CM Administration Site.

For CME, you need to add the command service phone ehookEnable 1 to the router (usually under telephony-service, or an ephone-template assigned to the phone), create the CNF files, and restart the phone.
