Remote Agents

Hi,

Does anyone know if the remote agent software on the backup exec 9.0 CD will work with backup exec 8.5 server?

Ive tried installing it on the various servers, it doesnt seem to have worked in last nights backup, but I havent rebooted the servers since doing so (the service is started)

I don't think the agents between those two versions are interchangeable. 9.0 agents will only work with Backup Exec 9.0.

Yep! I've found Remote agents to be backward compatible
Incidently, 8.5 agent will not work with 9.0 server. Your problem is elsewhere, imo....

My 9.0 Agents did work with my 8.6 server, before I upgraded it to 9.0. I still have my 8.6 SQL Agents running on the 9.0 server because the upgrades I bought won't install, but hey, it works for now.

The 9.0 serial number will work in 8.6. The actual physical agent will not work if the server is 8.6 and the remote agent is 9.0. The 9.0 remote agent will only work with 9.0 Media server.
