I've read alot of threads on this and i'm still unsure of the proper procedure

each thread mentions you need to set up a remote access code so when you dial into a predefined DID you can enter this as a security check... where is setting up this RAC code found if already established or done if not.

is it the same as setting up a DID to a vdn where the vector plays an announcemnet and collects digits. if succesful how does it give you dial tone? or is it a whole different procedure.

I understand the cor and cos need to be set but the rest is giving me brain flatulence :)

if some one could point me to explict directions on how to set this up i would be very greatful. or take the time to lay it our for a dummy :)

thank you in advance

Try "Change Remote-access" Thay is where you would add the DID number to remotley access the switch. Remote Access Extension is the DID you are talking about.

I found thread remote access thread 690-1117953 very interesting and tried to do a display remote-access and I am gueind my software at this locaiton is to old. rel 12 ver 2.2 can anyone confirm?

remote-access is a feature that can be permanently disabled.
This has been around for over 20 years. If you do not see it, it was disabled. For a fee, the definition of permanently can be changed to "no longer disabled"

Code:
change remote-access Page 1 of 1
                                REMOTE ACCESS

Remote Access Extension: Barrier Code Length:
  Authorization Code Required? n

           Barrier Expiration No. of Calls
Code COR TN COS Date Calls Used

to see if it is disabled what woul di look for inder features? or customer options

If it is permanently disabled, the form and programming for the feature disappears from your system.

display / change / status remote-access commands also disappear.

thank you for the great info ...looks like im gonna use vectoring

There are also enable and disable remote-access commands if you have security violation setup to disable the feature if someone is trying to hack into your switch. This is not the same as permanently disabling (removing) the feature.

Avaya used to charge $ 600 to enable it after they advised during toll fraud audits to turn it off (permanently disable) if it was not being used.
