It just stops like it was never running.
VBE 8.6, installed on one server with several other servers running Remote Agent. I need to install Remote Agent on one more W2K server.
I went to the BE server (NT 4.0, sp6a) Control Panel, Veritas, Add/Remove, Install Additional Components.
As soon as I hit CONTINUE, the window goes away and I'm right back to the Add/Remove window.

I tried the hidden installation by putting the CD in the new server and running D;\Winnt\Eng\I386\ntaa\install.cmd and the installshield wizard comes up and claims to be starting the install process. When the bar gets to 100%, the window goes away. No nothing.
I looked this up on the Veritas site and the only thing they could come up with is its an Oracle .dll issue. The only problem with that is I am already using the correct version of that file. I even renamed that file and tried again, no go.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
My backups are getting done, but the job is listed as FAILED because RA is not installed on this server.

Add-remove programs and make sure the remote agent is not in the list of installed programs. If it is, uninstall it then reboot.
Copy the rant32 folder from the backup exec cd (do a search on the cd for it) and run setupaa (remote agent) or setupaofo (remote agent with open file option) from a command line. When it brings up the c:\ prompt again, reboot.

Thanks, shellac. What a strange story. I did as you suggested, and once again nothing happened. I tried twice.

This morning, I came in and the DOS window was still up on the server so I said, 'what the heck', and reran the command. Nothing happened, not even the return to the C: prompt. I then got called away for about an hour. When I returned, the cursor was back at a C: prompt. I checked Add/Remove Programs and VOILA! there it was! Remote Agent, installed this morning. I have no idea how or why it chose to install, I am just glad it did.

Thanks,
Corie
