I have 5 license for AOFO remote agents and have tried to install on one (1)server. I get this error :

55 files skipped. Snapshot operation required was unsuccessful. Backup job configured to use AOFO, however, files were skipped. Insure media server is licensed with AOFO, or that the job is properly targeted for media servers that are licensed with AOFO.

I've checked the license number and it is correct. I tried a local install and ran the setupaofo.cmd and the setupaa.cmd but I still get error.

Can anyone help?

Did you recently upgarde the software? what version are you using? What are you backing up? Simple files (home directories) -- or exchange server?

No, I have not updated the software. I'm running ver. 10. We do not use Exchange and I am backing up files. I'm going to try it on my web server and see what it does. The server I'm trying to use it on is our telephone software server. It can not be shut down due to calls coming in at night, ect.

and when you installed the remote agent on the server you're connecting to - you installed the Open File Option Agent at the same time?

Yes. I've turned on debug and sent the files to veritas with the problem but to no avail. The push option won't work so I locally installed the rant32 folder on the server and ran the setupaofo.cmd and the setupaa.cmd and that didn't work. I've rebooted the thing several times, uninstalled beu and re-installed. I've done it all!

Ya.. at this stage i would have you re-push the installation.. why does the Push fail? what happens?

what does the bkupinst.log say on the remote server?

Okay I got it!

The push does not work for what ever reason. I have been manually loading the program on the remote servers but the AOFO would not work. What I finally found out is that the RANT32 folder has to be dropped into the Root directory of the remote server. I was putting it in Program files. Then, I run the setup.exe command for AOFO to install the remote and AOFO feature. It works, but it is taking FOREVER to back up.

I made a test file on the test server that only has 2160 bytes of data in it. I opened the file and ran the backup. It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes! Is this normal? Man, I hope not.
