I cant find anything on setting up the admin console on a remote administrators PC, mine. nowhere in the install did i see a spot to set the path to the sms site.

i know ive seen this somewhere before but cannot locate it again.

thanks,

Dave

Check the remote veiwer permissions on the object in question.

You should alo be able to run your remote console and look at the preferences where you can add the Site and Site server name in the remote preferences setting.

I've seen this plus the permitted viewers cause problems oin the past.

ill have to reinstall and get back to you.

thanks,

Dave

this time i entered the correct info ie site server not the site name and i can connect.

No i am back to my original problem, i cannot access any of the info. When i click on a collection the right pane shows that "There is no information to show in this view"

Permissions???

thanks,

Dave

The only area(s) i can access are the Systems Status -->Site Status & Package Status.

thanks,

Dave

my username is also apart of the SMS_Admin group.

An error is showing up in the event logs of the SMS server every time i try to access the remote console.

Source: WinMgmt
Event ID: 30
Description:
A WMI/WBEM client executed an asynchronous operation and failed to return
from its implementation of IWbemObjectSink.

I did what MS KB said to check in article 811321. Both the system and interactive accounts are already there and set to allow.

There are no entries in the local event log about this problem.

Are there any logs i can check?

thanks,

Dave

Ok i think i fixed it.

It seems it was a SP 2 issue. I needed to do the following:

To allow anonymous remote access in DCOM:

1.From the Start menu, click Run and type Dcomcnfg.exe.

2.In Component Services, click Console root, click Component Services, click Computers, and then click My Computer. On the Action menu, click Properties.

3.In the My Computer Properties dialog box, on the COM Security tab, in the Access Permissions section, click Edit Limits.

4.In the Access Permissions dialog box, grant Anonymous Logon allow Remote Access.

5.Restart the computer.

I have tested remote desktop connection, which worked, to a win2k box and a XP box. The connection is a little slow at first but then it is much faster than using remote desktop to hte SMS server then remote desktop to the users PC.

thanks,

Dave
