Hi, i need a little help from you guys. ok, heres the situation, i am on a vpn at home controlled by a router (d-link) and i info stored on the computers on the network. what i want to do is to map a drive to one of these computers from a computer outside of the network and vise versa, i want to map a drive to his computer outside of my network. is this possible? if so could someone explain to me how to do it? i am on xp pro. thanks

I think you're home computers are on a private network, but not a virtual private network. You need to set up a VPN between your network and some other. There are several ways to do this, but you might want to start here:

How do i got about setting up a vpn then? what would i need to buy?

Considering your knowledge of VPN, Remote desktop, which is already included with your XP pro, is probably the way to go. If you don’t know how to set up RDC do a google search. There are a ton of articles on setup and configuration, and it is easier than implementing a VPN.
