What is the simplest way to remotely gain access to a partner for programming purposes?

thx

Assuming that you have some sort of auto attendant, dial in and transfer to ext. 76.

If you have Partner Messaging, build a transfer only mailbox for 76

If you have Partner Mail VS, 76 is not recgonized as a valid extension number. Put 76 in hunt group 776 and the only member and transfer to it.

For either of the above, make 7 a direct extension transfer, or you'll need to do *8 before the extension number.

Be sure to put a password in #730.

Hi wp7705,
Don't forget you need Remote Administration for at least the rev. level of system you are trying to connect to. (system is ACS 3.0 or higher)

thx guys.

how do I get 'remote administration?' is it part of a download pkg from avaya?

what about winspm admin software for magix? where do I get that from? so far, all I have found are 'patches' or upgrades.

Hi wp7706,
Here is a link to get the Remote Admin R 5.0 software, I don't think Avaya has released R6 officially yet.
If you load the latest WinSPM that Avaya has on the site and use the upgrades, you will end up with R8. When you order the documentation CD, it has the lastest rev. of WinSPM on it (to match the processor you got).

Here's R6

I have never been able to connect locally or remotely using partner admin software. When I saw this link I decided to try it and guess what? IT WORKED. I used the new software to connect to a rel 4 ACS. But there were a few problems:
1. I know how the system was programmed, and the system information I retreived was not the same. Not enough extensions showed as well as lines.

2. I now can not connect to the same ACS, 24 hours later. What is the problem?

I've heard that a lot of connection problems were resolved by re-booting the partner. Just pull the plug and plug it back in when it's idle, then see if you can connect.

I haven't had connection problems . . . yet

As for the programming discrepancies, I had a problem on an R6 the first time I retrieved it. I just retrieved it again, and it was fine the second time. Modified settings, uploaded to partner, and restarted the system, all worked perfectly.

Don't know why.
I have learned that the only answer to "why" questions is "because!"

I'm probably out of my league here, but a rep at Metroline told me that the password for remote access to the ACS system has to be reset from Station 10 prior to each remote access session. Allegedly this is true when using the PC software locally AND remotely. Can anyone else confirm?
Rob

Once set from station 10 or 11 using #730, the password remains until changed. There is no need to continually input the desired password. Sort of defeats the purpose.....

392 is correct. We administer severa systems remotey on a regular basis. Once a remote access password is administered locally, it remains valid until specifically changed.
