Can anyone tell me how to perform remote access to a win2k server. I have the server attached to a cisco router. I am able to telnet to the router from work. Is there a way fro me to go through the router and get to the server?
Thanx

assuming your server doesn t have a public IP adress, I d say the most secure and easy way to do this is by using VPN. Many cisco routeurs have a VPN server included, if this is the case here, you only need to configure it and then you ll access your entire network from anywhere, providing an ID/pass.

If you re not familiar with VPN, try this :

good luck :)

If you want to use terminal services through your firewall to the server, openup port 3389 and your in.

The 2000 machine can be set up as a VPN also. I've never done it, but I know 2000 supports this. You can also try downloading VNC from AT&T. It's free, so do a search on google. I installed on all my pc's on the network, (250+) and when a user has a minor problem, I vnc in and fix it. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
