I have four seperate buildings and have a USR modem in each switch cabinet. I've been able to dial in to our main building for quite a while, however lately when trying to reach this particular switch, I get a hand shake then a squeeling noise. Connection/dial up to other switches are fine. I have switched out the modem with a known good one, configured exactly as the others and still have the same problem. I'm thinking it has something to do with the Option 11 switch but I'm not sure what. Any suggestions?

Thanks Dougo123 for your reply. I'm pretty new at this system so if you have the time could you give me progressive instructions?

Thanks pbxn for the post. Unfortunately that did not cure the problem.

Take a laptop to that location and plug into the same phone line and try to call a different test site, check the line you are currently on before worrying about the PBX itself.

The LD 37 showed TTY port 0 (modem) as ENBL.

is the modem hanging up or is it just sitting there doing nothing?

Once the hand shake has completed, it emits a squeal for a while then displays a no answer, could not connect. I pulled the phone line from the modem and connected it to a laptop and connected successfully with the other switches; therefore eliminating the phone line to the modem.

If you got the hand shake and then the squel, it sounds like the modem lost sync with the switch. this is normally caused by a bad trunk making noise.
