Hello,

I have recently installed two new IPO 500 systems with embedded voicemail. Since instalation, I have not been able to access either of them from my office for remote administration. I am using Manager on my desktop and the software is not picking up the systems via TCP Discovery. I am able to ping the IPO's successfully so I don't suspect anything being blocked. The technician can access the IPO system(s) when on the local LAN. I am stuck at what do to or check next. Any ideas would be helpful. Remote access was one of the reason I put these systems in.

IPO version(s) are 8.x
Manager version is 10.1 (67)

Thanks in advance.

You need an actual connection to their network to achieve this or a dial in connection to the system itself, it doesn't just find them over the web :)

BTW, if you do have a connection you need to specifically enter the address into the Manager discovery window, a broadcast doesn't traverse subnets/networks so it will never find them otherwise (that's why some people call them broadcast domains) :)

you can also go to file>preferences>discovery. in search criteria, you can enter the ip address(s) of the unit(s) you want to see automatically. for example if you have an SCN and the address are 192.168.10.10 and 192.168.20.10, you can add both to this window and they will both populate when you are on that network.

Thanks. I have entered the IP address of the unit under file>preferences>discovery and it doesn't get picked up. I am starting to think that something is blocking?? I can pint the IP address without issue and my tracert is successful.

Then it is being blocked.... try an address/port scanner and scan for the manager ports (I use this free scanner) if they don't show then, they are blocked :)

So, without any kind of secure connection, you can ping the IPO?
Meaning it's reachable from the not good.
I bet the Manager block is done by the firewall in your office.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Yeah, well I always assume the worst[smile]

*SCN is so easy to setup if you throw out the firewalls* [ponder]

Kind regards

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
