Hi has anybody tried forwarding ports to access the IP Office remotely using web manager. If so what steps are you using to make it work and secure? I'm not seeing much insight in the manuals.

If you buy a shotgun you will not find instructions on shooting yourself in the head either.

It's not designed for this, dont do it :)

That made me smile Andy.

Perhaps instructions on how to shoot yourself in the head might be appropriate for some owners. :-D

Just setup a firewall rule based on the public IP address of your office to forward the necessary ports to the necessary internal IP address. We do direct IP management of about 20% of our customers.

I have highlighted the important part of Pepp77's Advice in red.

if you port forward to the IPO without tying things down to a specific IP address you will have problems.

I would strongly recommend a VPN instead

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

You can literally pick up a $100 crap refurb PC and use something like logmein.

I believe that both Teamviewer & logmein both require a licence for commercial usage.
Even excluding the cost of the PC this is Ilkley to be more costly than simply configuring a VPN on the existing router.

Corporate teamviewer licences are not cheap - something like £700 for a year and this only allows one connection at a time.

we use log me in, never had any issues with it and we do not pay a dime to use it as well

Logmein free is very limited, when you use something better it's poles apart :)

Just looked at screen connect... but what is an access agent?

We actually use gotoassist here(Citrix product) and it works fairly well.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Access Agent is a remote device with a pre-loaded service running you access via the website, the same way LogMeIm works basically. We use it, but it's more feature rich then LogMeIn and allows you to send "View Only" codes to folks so they can watch what you do on your screen etc, or guest access for a period of time.

The other screen connect licencing is like LogMeIn rescue where you can access devices ad hoc but are limited to how many "Engineers" are allowed :)
