Hi, Does anyone know of a good remote access solution for managing a Mitel 3300 and Associated Apps. If any says Datatrack Tracker, I will hunt them down and batter them with one!!. Not a fan you might guess!.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Glenn,

This Customer is Paranoid about security. They won't allow direct access to the Mitel and won't use products like go to my pc.

Looking for more of a hardware solution.

Thanks Anyway.

There was a piece of hardware Mitel provided called a 7100 Management Access Point (I think). Never used it but as far as I know it provided dial-up access for maintenance of the 3300.

Indeed ISDN dial up
Not having a dial in option is the worst part i have seen on a PBX !!!

TheInstaller,

Sorry for bringing up the painful memories....again.

Will they consider using the MAS Server with VPN tunneling. The Server acts as its own firewall in server and gateway mode or can be placed in a DMZ.

Either way it will provide sucure access to the customers network via the internet (At decent speeds)

Hi Kwb,

We have been done this route before, took them ages to except that the teleworker works in this way and is secure. Problem is that we are dealiing with a client who is totally non-technical and Knows little about how these things work. How she became a Comms Manager I will never know!!

My preference would be to RDP directly into the Ops Man Server but I need a way of making it secure? and proving it's secure.

Just curious, but what's your issue with Datatrack? I've installed hundreds of them, and once you figure out the oddities of setting them up, I've never had problems with them (other than requiring an occasional reboot).

We use the following on a simple "itx" pc with flah memory for hard drive and modem.

Because it's linux it simple to set up with password and rules to only access the IP address's needed, and about a third of the price of "tracker
