I have a IP500 using Embedded VoiceMail and have setup a voicemail code of 200 for the Main Hunt Group.

However, I am unable to find a way to modify the default message that gets played when a user calls in.

What am I overlooking?

Forgot to mention, I can call ext 200 and while listening to the default message, I press 8 but nothing happens.

I can however, leave a message and it works fine.

if you aren't familiar with it, the website is your one stop shop (other than tek-tips, of course) for all things IP Office.

Here is the info you need from this link -
IP Office Embedded VoiceMail Mailbox User

Accessing your Mailbox and Messages
The method below is the default method available to all users to access their own mailbox. If you have IP Office Phone Manager or an Avaya digital telephone you may be able to access your mailbox using them. Refer to the user guide for Phone Manager or the telephone.

Your system administrator can also configure other methods of access including access to your mailbox from other phones and access to hunt group mailboxes.

To log in to your mailbox:

Dial *17 from your own extension.

If your mailbox has an access code set, you will be prompted to enter it. Enter you access code.

You will hear a prompt telling you how many messages you have. The voicemail system will start playing your new messages.

Once you have accessed your mailbox, you can use the following controls:

Press
Action

1
Play old messages.

2
Play saved messages.

3
Edit mailbox greeting. For more information, see Changing your Greeting.

4
Delete current message.

5
Save current message.

*04
Change mailbox access code. For more information, see Changing the Mailbox Access Code.

*4
Hear Help Prompts.

8
Exit.

IMPORTANT
Once a new message has been listened to, it is marked as 'old' and is automatically deleted after 24 hours. If you do not want the message deleted, you must mark it as 'saved' by pressing 5 whilst listening to the message.

Gib,
You are overlooking the user/admin manual.

I will add that if one goes to IPOFFICEINFO.com, one will find a series of links that lead to numerous installation, programming, configuring, manuals, as well as technical bulletins, tech tips, GA release docs, helpful job aids, and numerous other resources that an implementor might want to start reading prior to implementing an IPO, VMPRO, VM LITE, IMBED VM, etc., etc.

ipofficeinfo.com is a great website, except i really don't have much trouble finding what i need to know on the marketingtools website or the main avaya website or here.

just personal preference i guess.

Problem is, it is not MY mailbox that I am having problems accessing to record the prompt's. I can record my message for my mailbox just fine.

It is the Hunt Group Mailbox and now the AutoAttendent Mailbox. When I created the AutoAttendent per the instructions it created a short code of *811 . From my phone I press *811 and just have silence instead of the options to hear, record and save a prompt.

How do I access them from my internal phone????

This may be the problem, altho I have some prompts that work. ???

This is a new installation with a new Embedded Avaya Flash Card.

SO... I setup the system for TFTP (Set the TFTP Server address to the IP of the IP500 and set the File Writer to my PC's IP Address)

Then I copyed the files from the cd and removed the directorys for languages that I don't want.

Then I ran the Send711.bat file and it said it transfered the files successfully. Waited 10 minutes and still NO JOY.

When I dial *814 I hear NOTHING. I can dial *17 and get my own voicemail prompting.

Any more Ideas?

Thanks

This transfer can take longer than 10 minutes. You may want to try doing the transfer again. It is kind of a pain procedure, and I would stick to the procedure in the docs to the letter, not altering any files it does not instruct you to do. I do not recall the docs saying to customize the language files, but I could be wrong. It is not uncommon from what others have told me for the file transfer to take a few attempts before JOY is achieved. Also, do not run other apps while doing this, or AV.

so it sounds like you just did the "Upgrade Prompts Pre 3.0" section of that document... since you said you used the send711.bat file.

did you also do the "Upgrade to version 4.0" section and use the Upgrade4p0_711.bat file?

you can use the monitor tool to see what's going on with embedded VM. there is a tick box in the trace options for embedded vm.

I think it is working now. Not exactly sure what happened but waited longer for the prompts to show up.

Thanks for the help
