trying to set up remote dial-in Access for our BCM50(R5.0). I am able to dial in through hyper-terminal, and log in through hyperterminal and am given limited menu options...

but when i open up element manager and try and connect(10.10.14.1), im unable to. not sure what im doing wrong? i attatched a screen shots of my settings, after reading through the manuls everything seems to be set

cook,

just tried 10.10.11.1 - still not working. cant validate or connect through element manager. not sure what im missing here? is there a setting somehwere other then what i have listed that need to be set?

Set your PC/laptop to obtain an IP Address automatically (preferred ,
as DHCP is always operating on the OAM port)
or Manually set your PC/laptop’s IP Address (IP Address: 10.10.11.2,
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252)
(Note that the OAM port default settings are IP Address: 10.10.11.1,
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252)

try that

giblett

im not connecting using the OAM port, i can connect fine through the LAN(192.168.1.5) or directly through the OAM port(10.10.11.1). the issue i am having is connecting through dial up, remotely...

i can dial in via hyperterminal, and log in, but once logged in i cant access the bcm via element manager. regardless of the ntwroking settings on the laptop(dhcp/static)

oops sorry... miss understood yer....

i do not do it that way, i set up a direct dial up useing
new connection wizard/connect useing dial up/dial up connection/add a name for the dial up/enter the dial up number/add a shortcut to the desktop/and the username & password.. then dial in.

once connected run elegant mangler at the top select new element manager/BCM manager use ip 10.10.11.1/username/pwd..
highlight the ip address in the navigation panel then select connect... try that

is there a "new connection wizard" in vista/windows 7? or an equivolent?

i guess so, i use XP.... not familer with vista/7....

1. Click on the Start Button and Control Panel then click on the Network and Internet option.

2. Select “Network and Sharing Center ” from the top of the screen.

3. Next, Select “Set up a new Connection or Network”

4. Select “Set up a dial-up connection” from the menu options

Are you dialling in to the ISDN or analogue modem ?

When connected, what IP does your system receive from the BCM ?

giblet... set up a connection that way, when i dial in, i get the modem sounds, but it just sits there and never connects. no timeout, no error, its just the modem sound continuous.

?

checked the alarms log, getting this:

70003 warning:
the link was terminated by the modem hanging up

Check if both the ends of a connection have at least one Authentication Protocol in common.

and

8022 information:
MCC modem is disconnected

I have had a similar issue. However is was limited to the onboard modem in my laptop. I have only ever been able to connect using an external or PCI modem. Is this the same for you ?

have only tried the laptop so far...ill try an external modem and see if that works...

I would to be honest. I have a Dell Lattitude and I could never get it to work with the internal modem at all. Using an external there was no problem.

What type of lines do you have on your BCM50?. I had the same problem with one using PRI lines. It was not authenticating using the remote dial up, and found the problem was the timing on the PRI card was set wrong. Changed clock source to Primary External and no problem.
