Anybody know the status of Release 21? I can't find anything on it since it was put into retired status, but I have a customer who says I'm wrong and that it's been EoL since May 1, 2004. Again, I haven't seen ANYTHING on this, and was hoping someone had some more concrete information.

Thanks in advance,
Arch

i have a doc as of jan 2004 ...

X11.21

11E is EOL
all others retired

Here is the text of that bulletin:

End-Of-Life (EOL) Notice Bulletin Number: EOL-2003-0003-Global
Issue: 1.0
Product Name Generic X11 Release 21
End-Of-Life Notice Date: January 2003
End of Life (EOL) Date: Q2 2004 (no later than May 1, 2004)
Market Regions Affected: Global - NA, CALA, EMEA, and Asia Pacific
Introduction
This notice serves as formal communication of Nortel Networks’ intent to end the life of the product noted.
Nortel Networks originally introduced X11 Release 21 in 1995. Release 21 will move to Global
Retirement status in Q3 2003. (Note – R. 21 was previously retired in CALA regions, as of October 2001.)
The move to End-Of-Life status was planned to occur a further 4 years later. However, as was previously
discussed in Bulletin P-2002-1544-Global, due to industry abandonment of the 4 MB standard, Nortel
Networks is no longer able to maintain support for the X11 releases delivered via 4 MB media. As a
consequence, Release 21 is being accelerated into End-Of-Life for all market Regions and all system types.
Projected timeframe to termination of Release 21 4 MB support is Second Quarter (Q2) 2004 – to take
effect no later than May 1, 2004.
End of Life Definition –No further support will be provided. Product and its delivery process/media are
no longer supported or available from Nortel. Emergency recovery and/or upgrades may be performed in
accordance with customer specific service plans or upgrade agreements as negotiated prior to EOL.
Alternative/Replacement Products/Solutions
Customers running the affected releases are encouraged to upgrade to Current software as soon as feasible.
At this time, Release 25.40B is Current.
