In default Short Codes what is the difference between the telephone number of the codes below?

*41 Tel No. 1 Relay Pulse
*44 Tel No. 2 Relay Pulse

I am installing a doorphone with an magnetic catch and everything is working fine except the button I have programmed on a users handset. I have tried the changing the action data between 1 & 2 in button programming and I have no joy in releasing the magnetic lock.

Any ideas guys?

There are 2 different relays on the single socket, that's why there are 2 codes :)

I guess you may have it wired wrong if you didn't know that already :)

I have a 3.5mm stereo jack in the Ext O/P connected onto cw1308 and is wired correctly into the door phone.

Do the codes work? Have you tested if it's being triggered with a multimeter? Usually due to the voltages/currents involved you have to use those relays to trigger larger relays that can handle the higher ratings :)

amriddle is 100000% spot on here , wire the jack as per the knowledge base data sheet , then put a multimeter on the cable use the pulse code and ensure it works ,HOWEVER there are other short codes that you need to activate first to get the pulse to work (from memory) it depends if you need a normaly closed or normaly open circuit , anyhow you need to set the relay code before you use the pulse code or it will never work.

ok so i had a look on manager and predictably the code is relay on and relay off , as i said you need to activate the relay before the pulse code works(5 second pulse)

I disagree with montyzummer because I went through the same problem a couple of days ago where someone activated the relay on shortcode and the relay pulse did not do anything any more so make sure that the relay is not turned on as then the relay will be on. Measure with the multi meter that there is no continuity between ground and the contacts (1 or 2 depending which one you are using)

*41 will connect ground to connection 1 and *44 will connect ground to connection 2 on the 3.5mm plug

You can also not run a magnetic lock release directly and need a device that can handle the amperage that these things need or you will burn out the relay in the IPO but I think when you say you wired it into the doorphone then that is what you did.

westi i get what you are saying , but i was pretty sure it depends if you have a normaly open or normally closed device you are connecting to. Hense the pulse changing the behaviour of the circuit.

the site I went to had someone turning relay 1 on and the shortcode for "relay pulse 1" did not do anything for it. It showed no movement on the continuity (I thought it was weird but maybe it is a problem with the unit and it is actually supposed to work like you describe.

yes possibly can you remember if your device needed N/O or N/C relay , caps007 let us know ,will be interested to see the soloution.

my device needs a N/O contact (it is fed into the Alarm and doorstrike system) and I actually use both contacts, one for the front door and the other one for the back door.
I however deleted the default shortcodes to open the door because there is a phone for the entry

If you connected the door lock directly to the relais output of the IP Office then most likely they have blown up.
It can only switch low current ( max 100 mA I believe ) and a door lock draws at least 1 Ampere.

A simple mind delivers great solutions
