Folks:
I have two different Exchange 2000 SP3 servers on two entirely different domains with the same problem.
I cannot relay emails from remote (IE not on the same net) to another remote email address (IE addresses not on that email domain). This of course is an example of a closed relay...BUT...when I check the "Allow all computers which sucessfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above" in the relay restriction tab it still does not work :-( My OE client has "My outgoing server requires authentication" checked as well. When I try to send it gives the generic "The following recipient(s) could not be reached: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for email@domain.com" message. Also note the Access Control/Authentication tab has anonymous, basic and intergrated checked.
I do not suspect a DNS problem...since you can add the IP of the remote client into the relay restrictions list of allowed IPs and it works like a champ.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Coty
