Hi Guys, i have a question regarding copying of database from Rel.8(Lx) to new 3300 with MCD 4.1,..is there a better way to move the database?

A data restore will be requried.
You will need to first upgrade to Rel 4.0 then convert the database to 'Common Data Migration' once done you can then upgrade to rel 4.1/4.2

As you have an LX controller does this have 512MB ram installed? If not you will need to either purchase an MXe chassis and iButton or you will only be able to upgrade to rel 9.0

It is all in the release notes

Hi Supernova, appreciate your comment on this however i think i forgot to mention that the scenario will be replacing the old Lx with Mxe MCD 4.1 so no upgrades will be done on part of Lx. Our concern is how to convert the database on rel8 unto MCD4.1 if theres a way other than manual copy....

There is no straight forward 'copy' option on the 3300 it is a Data restore.

You will have to do a datasave on the LX controller first
Next you will need to setup rhe new MXe controller with Rel 4.0 installed and make sure that the IP addresses are the same as the LX controller.
Next you will need to clear the hardware ID on the AMC
Licence the new MXe (so all licence options are available)
Restore the database from the LX controller.

Once system has restored and you will need to convert the database to Common Data sharing.
You will now be able to upgrade to Rel 4.1/4.2

Is there not a document on Mitel online with a procedure as well when taking a database from one type of 3300 to another? That might also be useful.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Thanks Supernova, quick question.."Next you will need to clear the hardware ID on the AMC"....on the LX right?

Yes that is correct.
Login to the App Record of the LX controller on AMC and at the bottom of the page is a 'Clear Hardware ID' link.
Once this is cleared you will able to register/sync the new MXe controller to the same App Record, thus keeping all your existing licences.

You might already know this, but just to be sure.
The new MXe controller MUST be a MXe II and not the latest MXe III
Use the Migrate info within the ESM 4.0, that will take you step by step through the correct upgrade/migrate process.
