I have installed Windows ME on a computer that had Windows 98 on it previously.
Is it possible to go back to Windows 98 or do I need to clear the computer?
I have the windows 98 disk but not the key code. Is it possible that the key code is still in a file?
Can you give me instructions on how to get the key code as well as what I need to do to go back to Windows 98?
Thanks

You need to wipe everything clean and do a complete install. As far as not having the win98 key, i cannot give that to you, as some might say this is 'illegal'. HOWEVER, this guy doesn't seem to think so, so check out his site

The only thing you have to know is how to find the answer.

If it weren't for users, computers would work just fine....If computers worked I'd be unemployed!

Thanks for the information. If I understand you correctly once you upgrade the OS the old key code is deleted.
Thanks
Les
