Greetings:

A new client's CM just crashed and the system just reboots all the time. As they are a small operation and have shut down temporarily for renovations they've allowed me to remove the server to my office.

MONITOR AND KEYBOARD ATTACHED:
System boots but during the Linux O/S loading there are errors too quick for me to read and the system just reboots and the process begins again for never ending rebooting.

PROBLEMS WITH SERVER/POWER
This location repeatedly had power issues and the previous installer told them to hold the power button down until the system shuts down fully. During suspected bad storms they've done this many times and I suspect the data is corrupted.

PROBLEMS WITH CHASSIS
I'm told the system is a CM 4.0 but I can't really tell. Obviously the software will not boot and I'm told they needed to replace their system several years ago and looking at the box, the previous installer probably used a downed modular messagaing server as the 1 RU server does say 'Avaya' but there is a Windows Server 2003 COA tag on it as well. If it helps the chassis had two USB ports in the rear and two in the front. There are two bays with individual doors for each drive bay to access the each hard drive. The MT is 8849 and the PID is 8849AAX. I believe the two numbers reference the IBM server line but was this line for modular messaging or other Avaya product which ran/runs on Windows Server 2003?

CM 2.0 or CM 4.0
I really don't know and my coworkers will try tracking via the customer's 'sold to.' But is there any other way?

PROBLEMS LOADING CM 4.0
I've burned a disc with CM 4.0 and have been unsuccessful in installing. After being asked to confirm the software version to install I get an 'Install Failed' message and a PID of 1538. Currently I'm searching this PID and I'm also going to try CM 2.0 as well.

Any suggestions?

CM INSTALLED
CM 2.0.1 was successful loading. I'll try CM 5.2.1 to see what happens.

you're gonna need the license file, so ask whoever is handling that to tell you what version they're licensed for. cm 5.2.1 may install fine, but if they're licensed for cm 4 than they'll only have a phone system for 30 days.

I wholeheartedly agree.

The problem is getting the danged 'sold to' and jumping through the hoops with the new transfer paperwork. I understand the need to protect original dealer but if the client wants to switch dealers and the CAM agrees what is the problem? It seems we turn in our paperwork and while the CAM sends it up the paperwork seems to consumed by the bureaucracy. Ah heck, I'm venting on something not related to the question.

But yes, we'll get the file from RFA once the 'sold to' comes back...
