Hi,
I have recently seen a new feature in a network interface card:
Automatic crossover support for crossover or regular cable

Does it mean that one can use a regular cable for connecting two computers instead of a crossover cable?
Note that the net has no routers, switches nor hubs, just two pcs.

In the following URL one can find such a card:

Yes, otherwise called autodetect.

Hi.
Could you elaborate a bit?
So.... Just to be sure, when I connect a REGULAR cable, the crad detects that it's NOT a crossover cable by itself and changes whatever needed?

Thanks

This is a very desirable feature, not only because it cuts down on your cable inventory, but it prevents a lot of pilot errors.

(But it is hardly a "new" feature. It has been around for years. Your telephones have had the same feature for flipping tip and ring for years.)
