Dear all,

Background:

I am trying to restore a dead machine that is used to administer our phone system - I have backup of it but following the multitude of issues I am having with it I cannot get the backup software installed on it to do the software restore.

Question:

So does anybody know where on the filesystem that Windows XP stores the registry? I know it was in a couple of files on 98 but I cannot remember. earching the drive for *reg* has had no success.

Thanks,

Ben

The registry is stored in 'Hives' - In XP, these are in:

Windows\System32\Config, and,

\Documents and Settings\<user name>
