On Win2000 machines, I currently run a script that is backing up the system state and registry. This is based on calling the windows backup utility and specifying system state only. I use this mainly to keep the repair folder up to date.

Are there any dedicated utilities in 2003 or do I use the same. I know that the w2k resource kit had a regbackup utility......Is there an equivilent for 2003 (I do not have the 2003 resource kit).

Has anyone recommendations that differ from w2k when handling the repair process for 2003 servers.

Thanks
Si

I would keep doing the same operation as you are doing now, performing a backup of the system state of the server.

You really don´t need to script anything. It is possible to specify a system state backup and schedule it to be running at specific times of your choice from GUI.

Of course, if you have a working, scriptet solution, you can still use that as well :)

I actually script so that I can keep a 7 day rolling archive on the server in different named folders. Each server is then backup each night.

Thanks for the response
