Registering DLL

Hello All,

I'm in the process of modifying an ActiveX COM component and will need to (re)install it shortly. I'm concerned about the condition known as "DLL hell".

Can someone educate me about how to avoid this condition? If I'm just re-installing this component, can I just run regsrv or do I have to uninstall the previous DLL first ?

I haven't changed anything regarding the version number or any of the project properties. But if I did...how would that affect the (re)installation procedures ?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Just make a back up/ restore point, try it and if you have issues restore.

Choose the correct compatibility setting when developing your component means that simply registering the component will work fine.
