hi,

One of the email user is getting lot of junk mails which i understood it is because of w32.mydoom@mm.

I scanned his machine using symantec w32.mydoom@mm tool..
it showed that machine is not having any viruses.

now we have to complaint to mail administrator to stop such mails or any action we can take to stop this mails coming to mail box.

he is using outlook xp and norton virus enterprise edition 8.1

could give me idea to stop getting such spoofed mail

If he is RECEIVING a lot of junk mail, it doesn't mean he is infected. Someone who has his email address in their address book may be the one who is infected, or that user's address and address book may have been spoofed, so that those in the address book are being sent a lot of junk,by another PC that LOOKs like it is coming from the spoofed address.

If one of these is the case, there really isn't much you can do except be very careful not to open unexpected mail, and if you discover the real sender, notify them that they may have a virus. Hopefully, you can just wait it out, as they usually don't last too long before the spoofer has to move on.

Yes, sorry to sound this way... But welcome to the world with viruses today. This will become more of a problem with each and every day these spoofing viruses come out.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Hi,
if you have a Mailserver running, there should be a Antivirus AND Antispam solution installed. If there is no local mailhost around, the client software against Spam/virus should have an appropriate funktion as well...

Sawedoff was absolutely right, getting these kind of emails is not only annoying - it´s a matter of loosing one´s own productivity, too! If this user get´s only 20 Spam emails a day, he needs around at least 3 - 5 sec. to check and/or delete that stuff. Imagine what is happening to a company with 1.000 users getting 20 Spams a day! Incredible...
