Hello,

Can some please tell me how can I change the data file format from existing OE 2000 to OE 2003 .pst file? I know I can create a fresh .pst data file and then drag and drop all the messages from old OE 2000 file, but I wonder if there is a quicker way without having to recreate a fresh .pst file.

I had an OE 2000 and recently got upgraded to OE
2003 ( I was assuming that it will automatically change the format of .pst file, but I didn't).

Anyway shortcut or anything that I need to change.

Thanka.

I'm not quite sure I follow your reasoning for this procedure - it's my understanding and experience that Office 2003 can open a pst file from Office 2000 with no problems ...

It might just be me, but I would (based on my understanding of what you want to do - correct me if I'm wrong) just import the 2000 pst into 2003. Next time you want to create a backup, just re-export as 2003. I might be completely misunderstanding what you want to do here, but that's my best advice.

Thanks all for your reply. I am sorry about the confusion, but what I meant was I had outlook 2000 (with 2Gb pst data file size limit) and got upgraded to office 2003 (with data file size limit upto 20Gb), but I notice that right after I got upgraded, it didn't change the data file formate from 2000 to 2003. I think this is something I had to do manually; it doesn't do it automatically.

So, should I go with the import/export proceduret to use my current .pst file with outlook 2003 data file (.pst)size limits or there is any other way.

Thanks

Just a quick update..import/export didn't work as expected...... I am not sure what will be the other way around other than creating a new pst file and move all the data from old pst to the new pst..

Any suggestions..

pretty sure the only way is to create a new one, then copy from old.
