Regarding FTP

Hello.. does anyone know what should be typed into the browser address bar if I wanted to use the browser to d/l something off an ftp server.

I have an ftp server set up using IIS and my client wants his clients to be able to d/l files off of his directory thru the browser.. i tried something like:

ftp://

http://www.blah.com/clientname/funnie.wmn

but it doesn't work.. moreover IE puts an additional "clientname" in the url which ends up looking like this:

ftp://

http://www.blah.com/clientname/clientname/funnie.wmn

i also tried doing this:

ftp://

http://www.blah.com/clientname/funnie.wmn:21

still wouldn't work.. any ideas? thanks.

I notice each of your examples has the filename in it. You might try it without the filename:

ftp://

http://www.blah.com/clientname/

or
ftp://

http://www.blah.com/

or
ftp://(the ip address)/

You could also try it at the DOS prompt instead of the browser and see if that makes a difference.
