I have a set of 4610s that do not give the option * to reset/reprogram. Password reset doesnt work.

They arent finding the 46xxsettings file from the TFTP server.
I have 4610s and 4620s running on the same system.

Error message displayed - NO FileSV
Then the timer for the DHCP runs infinite if I let it.

They get POE from the switch, not sure what other information is relevant.

How do I get these phones to find the Fileserver - settings file?

Did you try a "hold" and "clear" ?
Do you phones get dhcp from a server or from the ipoffice ?
You need to set it somewhere or enter manualy in the phone

Yes I have tried "hold" and "clear", holding mute...
They get the dhcp from a server.
I would like to set it manually, just doesnt give me the option to set it.

Is your DHCP/IPO sending the option 176?
Use wireshark and look if you see it comming thru.

Not sure where they bought them.
Ive just been given the task to fix them...

The guy I'm working with used Wireshark to capture the log already.
Says the phones are on a completely different network...

Any ideas on how we can find which network they're on?

Press "hold" and type "view"
Or press the options button and go to the ipsettings

That doesnt work. The option button doesnt work either.
It just loops the booting process, looking for the DHCP...

Then goes on to say that the 46xxsettings file has looping conditions.

When the looping comes up press * and see if it will get you in the menu. Or try to press and release hold then spell out clear adn then #.

Check your dhcp server
Option 176 should contain this:

MCIPADD=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,MCPORT=1719,TFTPSRVR=yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy

• xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the H323 Gatekeeper address. Normally this is the IP Office
Control Unit's address.
• yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy is the TFTP Server IP Address. Normally this is the IP address
of the PC running Manager.

This looks it could be a VLAN Issue.

Use a power supply ONLY i.e. no LAN connection from the PSU.

Wait for the screen to come up "No Ethernet"

Keep pressing * and eventually it will (may) allow to set the IP values.

Pay particular attention to the VLAN ID

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Tried the No Ethernet thing, didnt work.

It displays the correct VLAN ID when attempting to draw the settings; VLAN ID=2.

So you have two scope's in your dhcp server ?

Data scope contains option 176 with this:

L2Q=0,L2QVLAN=2

Then your voicescope should have the other 176 i posted

Yes I have two scopes. They are confirgured as you have represented...

The data and voicescopes are configured and working fine for my other IPs. What can I do to troubleshoot these refurbished IPs?

So you have 2 scopes on 1 DHCP server?!

Do you have VLAN Router Adress filled in on the switch?
Did you do a route add for the Voice VLAN with the VLAN router adress as the GW?

Greetzzz..Bas

Yes my data and voice scope are on one server.

Option 3, scope options?
Yes, there is an IP address assigned to that field.

No I didnt do a route add for the Voice VLAN, what would that accomplish in this case?

Open CMD on your DHCP server typ

route add xxx.xxx.xxx.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy

xxx.xxx.xxx.0 is you voice network
yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy is your VLAN router/gateway adress.

I wasnt able to execute that command, either the interface index is incorrect or the gateway does not lie on the same network interface...
