hello,

Getpivotdata (GPD) is causing me soem issues.

On my pc GPD function is linked between two files.

When close the file containing the pivot and save the file containing the GPD function the result is retained.

HOWEVER!

on a colleagues pc when the above is actioned to the letter, the result turns to #REF ?

Now, I have searched and found the MSDN Knowledgebase on the GPD #REF scenario but this surly would be consistant across all pc's. (if you are interested...

Please advise?

Matt

Hi,

Does you colleague have access to the network(s) that these files are on?

What about the CALCULATION option? What is the state of yours and your colleague's?

Hi Skip,

We both have full access to the same network location.

He has manual calc set with reclac on save switched on, if I have the same we still get the same scenario.

Any other thoughts? otherwie we shall create a messy workaround?

Cheers

Matt

Are you sure you have tried with "recalc on save" on?

Alternatively, it could be an issue to do with the order of files being closed. If the other file is closed 1st then the recalc on save will almost certainly give a #REF error. If you do it the other way round, it should be fine

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

I had similar error with that function in a single shared file. It was related to different versions of Excel. The order of the functions parameters was critical.
What I found was that the newer version of Excel (2000 or 2003) created formulae that were not compatible with the older version (97 or 2000).
The older version formulae were forward compatible.
