I found this thread767-1579509 which is similar to what i need to do but I am working in Crystal XI and dont' see the add command option there.

I have a parameter but I only want to return the values of
.[name] where
.[type] = "this type" and
.[country]="CAN"

is there a way in cr xi?

What kind of database are you using? You should see "Add command" above the list of tables when you go into database->database expert.

Oops! You are right ... i just plain missed it :(

I did notice doing this made the run time significantly longer.

It shouldn't make the runtime longer. You should NOT be linking the command that you are using for your picklist to any tables or another command--just ignore the warning that you receive when you close out of the database expert.

Also, you should ONLY reference the command to populate the picklist. Do not reference it in the main report in the selection formula or use any fields from it in the body of the report.
