I have a box with an ATI 9600 pro (2.4ghz 800mhz FSB, 512 ddr 3200 ram, winXP) Every time I startuup this box I get unusual graphic corruptions. Any 3d app (open GL or d3d) will have an overly red hue to it. for example, my pipes screensaver will have a reddish black background instead of black. this happens on all 3d games also. Repeated restart will fix this problem until I have to shut down for the night. I am also having 2d corruption. My desktop id blurred with horozontal lines.
I am using catalyst 4.1 and was planning to un/re them to see if that would help. anyone have any other solutions?

The part about changing after several restarts is puzzling. Maybe you've got a bad card. Other than that, it sounds like the monitor color balance needs to be adjusted. How old is the monitor, and is it set up to work with the ATI card.

the monitor is about 1 year old. I managed to get the redness out of the pic by switching to the newest Omega driver but, i booted up this morning and the desktop was completly a blur of horizontal lines. I am willing to bet that a few more boots and it will be like nothing is wrong. Very strange. I am coming to think my card is toast, but, I just bought it in september!!! ARGH! hmmm.... wonder if ATI could replace....

Are you protecting the computer from power fluctuations? ATI might do something if it never worked properly. Perhaps even if its still in warrantee.

Power fluctuations? Do I need to get UPS? I do have a very good surge protector. The power coming in is very stable also.(as far as I can see) Maybe this box has a skittish power supply?

No, I was thinking the card may have gotten zapped. Personally, I am running a UPS. I think it's good insurance, and we were getting some 'light's out momentarily' episodes which can have some nasty transients.

(sigh of frustration....) Thanx for your help. I guess this card is probably toast. I am looking for a new one now. I will also get a UPS for future problems.
