With internal calls if you divirt your phone to another which is on voicemail it automatically goes through to your voicemail.

We currently allow 3 handsets to divert externaly and what we would like to happen is after 4 rings it rediverts to the voicemail asociated with the initial handset. We would also like the same to happen should to line be busy.

Is this possible?

You need to have your external & internal forwards set to different destinations for busy / no answer etc.

This can also be done from the extension phone if you already have a SCPW, FFC assigned.

TO ASSIGN OR QUERY A RE-DIRECTION DN USING AN FFC

1. Take the telephone off-hook, or press the DN key on a digital telephone.

2. Enter the USCR FFC. (default is usually set as “*40”)

3. Enter the station control passcode (default is “1111” , ”1234” or “DN number if it is over 4 digits long”).

4. Enter the USCR Option Code (as shown below).

5. Enter new RCO if assigning the RCO; Enter re-direction DN if assigning the DN.

6. Place telephone on-hook, or press the RLS key on a digital telephone.

USCR OPTION CODES

Code Used to assign

1 Internal Forward No Answer

2 Internal Hunt On Busy

3 External Forward No Answer

4 External Hunt On Busy

5 RCO (Number of rings before re-direction) Note! This applies to code 1 & 3 only.
0 = 4 Rings,
1 = 6 Rings, (Default number of rings)
2 = 8 Rings

TO ASSIGN OR QUERY A RE-DIRECTION DN USING THE USR KEY

1. Press the USR key on a digital telephone.

2. Enter the station control passcode (default is “1111” or “DN number if it is over4 digits long”).

3. Enter the USCR Option Code (as shown in the table above).

4. Enter new RCO if assigning the RCO; Enter re-direction DN if assigning the DN.

5. Press the USR key on the digital telephone again.

NB: To change the passcode, enter. *6, PPPP,NNNN,NNNN (default is usually “*6”)

(Where PPPP = Old passcode,1st NNNN = new passcode, & 2nd NNNN = new passcode again)

Otherwise from within programming, you will need to have EFD, EHT, FDN, HUNT set to either voicemail or left blank/ own DN etc

FDN = Internal no answer
HUNT = Internal Busy

EFD = External no answer
EHT = External Busy

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I think what the OP is wanting is PCA functionality? Where it will ring internally & externally, and as long as the RCO is low enough that it avoids hitting a cell phone voicemail (or whatever the external destination is) then it will go into the originally dialed sets voicemail.

Otherwise, no, having a call first ring at the internal set, then FDN/HUNT (call forward no answer / call forward busy) to an external destination, THEN come back internally to your voicemail, is not possible.

If I understood the question correctly. :)

Agreed, Firebird's tutorial is great - sometimes I have to re-read NTP's 3 times to put it in plain English my brain will understand. :)

Thanks for the points Bigindian!

Sorry i think i have worded my question wrong,

what we are currently doing is CFW calls to an external number so the if their ext is dialed it will ring on the external number instead but if after 4 rings there is no answer is there a way for it to go through to voicemail which is setup on the ext?

Probably not from the PBX end, as once you have forwarded the call externally it belongs to the Telco and the PBX has no control of the call.
As mentioned above, to have any hope of this happening through the PBX you would have to have the PBX extension ringing at the same time that the external phone number is ringing with the roll over to PBX voice mail from the internal extension when it hits the limit of rings set up for it. That will not be easy.
You could always forward the external phone back into your voice mail, but it would have to go through a dummy number set up to get it to the correct voice mail box, if you sent it back to the original number it would just forward it out again to the external number. Given enough time you would end up using all your lines as the call loops!
Hope this is of help
