I am using Apache 2.2.9 and I want to redirect
to I tried to put
##########################################
Redirect /folder ##########################################
in virtualhost but it don't work
I tried also
##########################################
Redirect permanent /folder ##########################################
but the same
any one can help .

it seems the same .
I used RedirectTemp and RedirectPermanent but still not working.
may be I have to load some module in httpd or not .

What do the error logs show? Is this directive in httpd.conf or in an .htaccess file?

Is mod_alias (linked above) loaded? Does the apache error log show what is failing? What happens when "it doesn't work" -is there some error displayed in the browser; does the browser display something other than the file that you expect?

first the mod_alias is not loaded. and it not found in modules even though when I install apache I enable rewrite.
socend when I brows the browser just loop.

mod_alias is a different module than mod_rewrite. The RedirectPermanent directive is part of the mod_alias module. Without that installed, RedirectPermanent will never work.

It depends, most off-the-shelf apache installers will have this included. Is there a line in httpd.conf for:
[tab]LoadModule alias_module modules/mod_alias.so
