I have been redirecting all URLs on server1 to comparable URLs on server2. For example is being redirected to Now I need to take server1 down so I can upgrade the Linux OS. I am using an Apache 2.0 server on server1. For a week before I take server1 out of service I want all attempts on
to go to a specific URL on either server. The specific page will warn the users that the automatic redirection will end & they need to change their bookmarks from server1 to server5 (eliminating the need of server1 being in service from now onward). PLEASE HELP, I have tried several things but none have worked. To summarize; the user will be submitting and I want to redirect all requests to or Thanking You All In Advance!

I would think there is an easier way to do all this. Couldn't you setup the new server then copy all the config files and websites over to the new server. Then it would just be a matter of port forwarding your router to the new server. Nobody would have to be the wiser. In your case, traffic is still being routed to server 1, then redirected to another server. What happens when you take server 1 down?
