RedHat having Thread issues

I am trying to run a java enabled chat program on a Raq4. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to handle all that many threads. Not quite sure where to go on this one, I have jvm 1.3 installed but am still having difficulties. Any suggestions at all (be it websites etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe your admin reduced the number of executable programs or threads per user. Check /etc/limits.conf or ask the super-user... I never had problems running many(!) apps on one machine. regards
