I have a redhat ftp server. The only problem is that my isp will only give me a dynamic ip address. If I have to reboot the pc, I will have a different ip address...this will probably throw off the configuration in the etc/ftpaccess file. Is there a workaround? -Greg :-Q

I was referring to the /ect/ftpaccess file in which entries are like:

virtual 0.0.0.0 root /home/vServer

or can i use my dynamic dns domain name in place of the ip address? -Greg :-Q

try this first virtual * root
or if just the last nunmbers change you could try
virtual 10.10.10.* root
or
virtual *.*.*.* root

i am not sure if it will work it would be worth a try
play around with the wild card (*)

if that does not work maybe try the dynamic dns name in there
let me know what happens
Ben

I use Mitel's SME Server and use a script called Ipcheck as a cron job to check every 15min to see if my IP has changed and to update my IP with DynDns.org. The script is real simple to implement and is well documented. You will have to create a free account with DynDns or one of the supported services naturally.
