Redhat Desktop OS Future

Can someone please help me interpret Redhat's Workstation\Desktop direction?

We are getting ready to roll-out Redhat 9 in a big way and seem to be getting rumors that Redhat, who helped build LINUX to what it is today, will not supporting desktops OS's (only servers) in the future.

If this is true...what are some of you considering as your options?

In short, RedHat is now going to an exclusively fee-based OS product line - from WORKSTATIONS to servers - dubbed their "Enterprise" line. They have dropped anything free from the RedHat Linux product days of 6.x, 7.x 8.x and 9.x series.

Fedora is a project driven by RedHat which strives to publish a RedHat Linux (read old, free) distro that doesn't necessarily correspond to the Enterprise line. Some features will appear first in Fedora, Fedora may sometimes be "experimental" for some things... It's free.

A great many linux admins are struggling with the turmoil created by RedHat's change of focus.

Sometimes it is tough separating fact from rumor in this area.

I think it is a great idea since there will be more support than ever. Maybye our graphics card's 3d accell. will work and more support for networking devices like wireless!! You will also get more applications for buisness/productivity and probably some really great network management tools!!! ;-D!!!!
