I'm having problems installing RedHat 9.
I have 2 sets of CDs; one downloaded from RH, and one set bought. None of them are working.
When I start a new fresh install, I choose all defaults; choose for a server or custom installation, doesn't matter what; errors are the same. Add the information for timezone, eth0 and eth1. After entering the root password the install crashes. All the information I have at the moment is listed below. Errors from the installation messages are caused by partitions that still exists. They should be thrown away during install.

I'm using the following hardware:
CPU: AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) 850 Mhz
Mobo: MSI K7T Turbo limited edition
Mobo chipset: Via vt8363(A) Apollo KT133(A)
Memory: 384 MB (3x 128 MB)
Video: MAtrox Millenium II; 8 Mb
HD1 ide0-master: WDC WD200EB-11CSF0, ATA-100; 22 Gb
HD2 ide0-slave: WDC WD400BB-75DEA0, ATA-100; 40 Gb
CD-ROM ide1-master: Creative CD5230E (52x)
HD3 ide1-slave: Seagate ST360020A. ATA-100; 60 Gb

Someone knows what is causing this/what to do??

RedHat 9 tries to find existing RedHat installs for repair or upgrade. You don't get a prompt for this. Since your error indicates a problem mounting IDE0, my guess is that something on this hard drive looks like an ext3 file system but is corrupt - as far as the mounting/detection goes.

Not knowing the history of your drive/box, my best advice is to boot with something that can give you fdisk a the e2fs utils so that you can repartition (and potentially format) this drive manually.

I may also be entirely wrong.

Try checking for bad blocks when you do the install. I had this same problem trying to install. When I checked for bad blocks, I never got the error again.

Problem is solved. I disconnected hd3, which was on the same bus as the cdrom, and succesfully installed RH. Reconnected hd3 afterwards. The server is now running just fine. Weird problem. Thx all for the ideas.
