red flash/blue flash ' BAD FLASH'

upon loading internet providers software ;the task had finished and i then removed disk from drive.
the screen then flashed red/blue ,it hangs or freezes when ever a function is selected.i have run scandisk and no problems were found. i have run diskfrag and all is in order.the settings for the TCP/IP address keep disappearing,
whenever i try and log on to net error 630 keeps appearing.
or system tells me another program is running when there is not.device manager tells me modem is operating OK,and there are no yellow flags . please help

Hi,

The error that you encountered was "The port was disconnected due to hardware failure"
What method of access are you using, for e.g. dialup, dedicated (dsl, cable). this error occurred within the Remote Access Service (RAS), Microsoft Q article Q163111.
