Hi,

Does anyone know why mapped network drives in Windows 2000 appear to go offline and appear in Windows Explorer with a red cross next to them.
Is there a way of resolving this problem?

Cheers.

When you logon two things can happen:
- the domain controller (and/or another servers) can be found
- or not
If not then you will log on with cache credentials. After this procedure your network drives will look offline. After on click on them the connection is possible to be established.

Windows 2000 disconnects drives automatically if not used for a period of time. See knowledge base article 297684
