hi

i have configured a GPO with Computer Configuration settings. when i do resultant set of policies, the items i have changed have a red cross icon against them. the settings do not seem to be applied to the computers even though i have applied it to the domain computers goup.

are these red crosses normal or is that a clue to why it isn't working?

thanks

means not being applied for some reason..

hi aftertaf

the pcs have settings configured locally on their on group policies but i thought domain based policies would override these.

in the resultant set of policies it says:
The policy engine did not attempt to configure the setting. for more info see %windir%\security\logs\winlogon.log on the target machine.

i have checked the winlogon.log file and can not see any errors.....help....

You say you have applied it to the domain computers group..
what do you mean by this?

I gather you have linked the GPO to the domain or an OU containing the PCs, am i right?

Have you changed the security filter at all?
For a GPO to be applied, the user/pc/security group concerned must have two rights
Read + Apply Policy...
have you checked this ?
