Have a working NT 4.0 Workstation peer to peer network.

One of the stations is acting "server" which houses all project files accessed by all of the connected stations. All of the files that are deleted by a user on the "server" station go to its own recycle bin, thus making the files available to be undeleted. When another user accesses and then deletes files stored on the "server," from their workstation, the deleted files are no where to be found. They are not in the local recycle bin or the recycle bin of the "server" station.

Could anyone share a way to get these files to show up in a recycle bin for undeletion?
Thanks.

This is default behavior, and im surprised it hasn't been addressed by now. The only way to do this is to use a recycle-bin protecting app. We use Executive Software's Network Undelete.

This app is great in that it will store files deleted over the network for safe recovery, and also (if installed locally) will protect a user's files from being obliterated. It's a great safety net for use in networks where restoring 30KB Word/Excel files from backups become a HUGE pain 20 times a day.
;)

You can download the Undelete 2.0 Server version for $250. It's a small price to pay for a real-time backup solution considering the huge price of tape backup solutions and time-saved.

Hope this helps!
