Ok, noob question but I haven't used Illustrator 10 in a year and I forget how to resize (not scale, I mean resize to exact dimensions) and how to specify an exact X and Y to place the rectangle at.

How do you do this without figuring out the exact percentages to to scale by?

Keep in mind this is an existing rectangle.

Anni:

Enter the numbers in the Transform palette (Shift-F8). You can enter position (as measured from the corners, center-sides or center, choose from little tic-tac-toe grid), and size. If you want to re-size proportionally, enter the number you want for one side, then Ctrl-Enter will adjust the other.

Forgot to mention, regardless of the units you have set for measurement, you can enter numbers followed by "in" for inches, "px" for pixels, etcetera and Illy will convert them automatically to the current units. You can also enter simple math operators (1/2, 2*4) and they will be calculated by Illy as well.

You can also use guides to mark the rectangle sides and draw the rectangle in the guides.
