i've reinstalled sms after a recovery. i was having problems having the management point setup on the same server as sms & sql so i configured sms to have its MP on the domain controller. i'm still having problems but getting different messages in the log now (message ID 1080 and 1016). Any help is appreciated.

1080:

SMS Site Component Manager detected that the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_TSUNAMI service was installed on site system "\\TORRENT", but SMS Site Component Manager could not deinstall the service. The operating system reported error 1072: The specified service has been marked for deletion.

Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager does not have sufficient access rights to administer the site system.
Solution: Verify that the Site System Connection accounts are properly configured to allow SMS to administer the site system.

SMS Site Component Manager uses the SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_TSUNAMI service to install SMS server components, and cannot install component SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER until the existing SMS_SERVER_BOOTSTRAP_TSUNAMI service can be deinstalled. If this problem persists and you cannot fix it, refer to your SMS documentation or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.

1016:

SMS Site Component Manager failed to install this component on this site system.

Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. SMS Site Component Manager will automatically retry the installation in 60 minutes. To force SMS Site Component Manager to immediately retry the installation, stop and restart SMS Site Component Manager using the SMS Service Manager.

Thanks for the tip, that's exactly what I needed to find out what the problem is exactly. Pre-installation checks all passed. All Post-Install checks did not pass. The only 2 tests that did not pass are HTTP related (MPLIST & MPCERT errors):

- <Name xmlns="Testing MPLIST HTTP request functionality">
- <Result xmlns="Failed">
<Comment xmlns="Failed to query web site: (Exception: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.)" />
</Result>
</Name>
</Test>
- <Test>
- <Name xmlns="Testing MPCERT HTTP request functionality">
- <Result xmlns="Failed">
<Comment xmlns="Failed to query web site: />
